Some people go ten, twenty, or even thirty years caught up in the anger of their divorce. For example, we all know that one person who continues to talk about how angry they are that their ex left them for another person, twenty years earlier. It’s normal and healthy to be angry. However, holding onto anger for too long will impact your entire life; and not in the best of ways.
During their conversation, Jackie shares seven practical tips and suggestions to help you acknowledge, process, and work through your emotions. If you are wondering HOW to let go of your anger - Jackie will help you! You have all the control of letting that anger go - it’s time to smile again.
Jackie Pilossoph is the creator and editor-in-chief of Divorced Girl Smiling, a website, podcast, and app. Jackie, who went through a divorce several years ago, is a former TV and newspaper journalist who spent 8 years writing her syndicated weekly column, Love Essentially for the Pioneer Press/Chicago Tribune.
Jackie and Susan discuss these Golden Nuggets:
- No judgment zone! Anger is a normal and healthy emotion
- If you are in the anger phase - it’s okay to acknowledge it to others
- “We can choose what we want to define ourselves as - anger, bitterness, or living in the past should not be one of those things.”
- Letting go does not mean forgetting what happened
- Why you should shift the focus on yourself and your children
- “The only time you should think about the past is if you are going to learn from it and do better.”
- “If you love yourself don’t say, ‘What if…’”
- The bottom line: You have to love yourself enough to let that anger go
This episode is a must-listen for anyone eager to learn how to release their anger for good!
